Are there voice options?

TRIPP has two completely separate voice systems: narration voices in Calm and Focus experiences, and Kōkua's own voice options. Here's how each one works.

Are There Voice Options?

Yes, there are two separate voice systems in TRIPP, depending on what you’re using:

  • Narration voices in Calm, Focus, and Composer experiences (TRIPP VR). These are pre-recorded narration voices tied to those specific experience types.

  • Kōkua voice options when you're talking with Kōkua, our AI guide. These are separate from TRIPP's narration voices. Kōkua does not narrate Calm or Focus sessions, and Calm/Focus narrators do not appear in Kōkua.

Here's a tour of each.

1. Narration voices (Calm & Composer in TRIPP VR)

These are pre-recorded voices used during guided sessions in Calm experiences and Calm Composer.

How to set it:

  • Start a Calm experience

  • After the initial surveys, a customization panel will appear

  • From there, you can adjust:

    • Narration voice (masculine or feminine)

    • Session duration

    • Level of voice guidance

Note: This feature is not currently available for Focus TRIPPs.

2. Kōkua voice options (Mobile & VR)

Kōkua has its own voice system, which is completely separate from Calm and Focus. These voices are only used when you’re chatting or meditating with Kōkua.

You have two ways to customize Kōkua’s voice:

Voice Library


Choose from a range of voices across different styles. You can preview and select the one that feels right to you.

Where to find it:

  • TRIPP Mobile: Tap the voice icon on the Kōkua screen

  • TRIPP VR: Open Kōkua from the Home menu, then tap the pencil icon

Voice Avatar: use your own voice!


You can create a version of Kōkua that speaks in your own voice by recording a short phrase.

  • Mobile (iOS): Record a phrase 3 times

  • VR (Meta Quest): Record a phrase 5 times

Your custom voice will be saved under “My Voices.”

Privacy note:
Voice recordings are encrypted and used only to create your Voice Avatar. They aren’t stored or shared, and you can delete them at any time in your settings.
