⚠️ This is a Known Issue We're Actively Working On
Our engineering team has confirmed a bug on iOS where Kōkua's audio does not route correctly to Bluetooth headphones. If you're using AirPods, Beats, or any other Bluetooth headset, you may hear no sound from Kōkua — or sound may play from your device speaker instead of your headphones.
This issue is tracked internally as TR-12163. We are actively working on a fix and will update this article as soon as it's available.
What's Happening
On iOS with Bluetooth headphones connected, you may experience:
Kōkua's voice playing from the iPhone speaker instead of your headphones
Complete silence from Kōkua even though other app audio works fine
Audio cutting in and out when Kōkua speaks
Kōkua responses appearing as text but no audio accompanying them
Workaround
Until the fix is released, these steps may help:
Use wired headphones or the built-in speaker — Kōkua's audio works correctly without Bluetooth in most cases.
Disconnect and reconnect your headphones — Toggle Bluetooth off and back on in iOS Settings, then reopen TRIPP.
Use text mode instead of audio — You can interact with Kōkua via text if voice audio isn't working. Kōkua's responses will still appear on screen.
Switch to AirPlay to your device — In Control Center, check audio routing and ensure it's set to iPhone rather than an external Bluetooth device, then reconnect your headphones.
Will Standard Troubleshooting Help?
Because this is a confirmed engineering-level audio routing bug, steps like clearing cache, reinstalling the app, or restarting your device are unlikely to resolve this issue. If you've already tried those steps and the problem persists, that's expected — and it's not something you did wrong.
