How do I talk to Kōkua in TRIPP Mobile?

Kōkua is your AI guide in TRIPP Mobile. Here's how to chat, meditate, share reflections, and make Kōkua speak in your own voice.

Kōkua, your AI guide in TRIPP, is right there on your phone, ready for a quick conversation, a deeper reflection, or a personalized meditation created just for you. ‘Kōkua’ is a Hawaiian word that means support, which is exactly what it’s here to offer.

Getting Started

Kōkua greets you the moment you open the TRIPP Mobile app, before you reach the Home screen.

  1. Open TRIPP Mobile. Kōkua appears right away with two choices: Just Chat or Meditate.

  2. The first time you use Kōkua, you'll be asked to allow microphone permissions. These are required to talk with Kōkua. (You can also use the keyboard)

  3. Tap 'Just Chat' or 'Meditate' to begin, or tap the Home icon in the top right to skip interacting with Kōkua and go to the TRIPP Mobile Home screen.

Moving between Kōkua and the TRIPP Mobile Home screen

  • To leave Kōkua: tap the Home icon in the top right of the Kōkua screen. This takes you to the TRIPP Mobile Home menu, where you can browse our extensive catalog of experiences.

  • To return to Kōkua from Home: tap the green Connect to Kōkua button under "Kōkua, your AI guide is here for you!"

Choose Your Mode: Just Chat or Meditate

Kōkua in TRIPP Mobile works two ways. You can move between modes anytime.

Just Chat
A space for open conversation, reflection, or simply talking things through. Speak naturally, no need to press anything, and Kōkua will listen and respond in real time.

Meditate
A guided session created for you in the moment. Share what you’re feeling or what you’d like to explore, and Kōkua will create a personalized meditation along with a uniquely generated visual inspired by your words.

How to Use Meditate Mode

  1. When you select Meditate, you'll see a glowing orb.

  2. Press and hold the orb while you speak. Describe what's on your mind, such as a feeling, a situation, a scene you'd like to picture, or a theme you want to explore. The more specific you are, the more personalized your meditation will be.

  3. When you're done speaking, release the orb back to Kōkua to send your request.

  4. Kōkua creates a meditation based on what you've shared, paired with a unique, AI-generated image inspired by your words.

  5. Need to pause or start over? Press and hold Kōkua's light to interrupt at any time. You'll see the reminder "Hold Kōkua to interrupt" on screen.

Why it matters: Every meditation is paired with a brand-new, AI-generated image inspired by what you share. No two sessions ever look the same. The visual deepens the experience, giving your mind something to settle into while Kōkua guides you through a meditation that exists only for you, in that moment.

Example: Try something like "Create a meditation about my dog, Tai, and how grounded he helps me feel," and Kōkua will build a calming practice around that, accompanied by a one-of-a-kind generated image of a peaceful garden scene.

How to Use Just Chat Mode

  1. Select Just Chat from the Kōkua menu.

  2. Simply start talking. You don't need to hold or tap anything. Kōkua listens and responds conversationally.

  3. Share whatever is on your mind. Kōkua can help with things like:

    • Talking through a nervous moment before a social event

    • A gratitude reflection

    • Working through a decision you feel stuck on

    • Cheering up after a hard day

    • Just a calm, non-judgmental voice to talk to

The more context you give Kōkua, the richer and more supportive the conversation becomes. Share as much or as little as feels right. Kōkua meets you where you are.

Voice Avatars: Have Kōkua Speak in Your Voice (iOS)

Your own voice is the most trusted voice your brain knows. With Voice Avatars, Kōkua can deliver your reflections and affirmations spoken in a voice you've recorded yourself.

To create your own Voice Avatar:

  1. From the Kōkua greeting screen, tap the voice icon in the bottom-left corner to open the Voice Library.

  2. Select Create a Voice Avatar.

  3. Accept the consent prompt confirming you have the right to use your voice.

  4. Press and hold the mic orb and recite the phrase shown on screen. You'll record the same phrase 3 times, using slightly different tones and energy each time.

  5. When finished, Kōkua instantly creates your Voice Avatar. Name it and save it. It will now appear under My Voices in your Voice Library.

To use a pre-made voice:

In the Voice Library, browse curated voice collections: All, My Voices, Casual, Coach, Drama, and more. Tap any voice to hear a sample and select one that resonates with you.

Why it matters: Hearing your own voice activates self-recognition pathways in the brain, helping your mind accept positive messages with trust and emotional connection. Users have described Voice Avatars as "a session with your higher self" and "a total game changer."

Sharing a Kōkua Reflection with a Friend

A Kōkua meditation can have a real, positive effect on someone's day. When something lands deeply for you, passing it along is one of the kindest things you can do.

Sharing is available in Meditate mode only. Here's how it works:

  1. After your meditation plays, let Kōkua know you're finished (say "I'm done," or something similar).

  2. A green "Share this Kōkua with someone" button appears at the bottom of the screen. Tap it.

  3. Choose how you'd like to share. The iOS share option will open, so you can send it via AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Notes, or any other app on your device.

  4. Your recipient receives a short note with a secure code and a share.tripp.com link. They tap the link, enter the code, and can experience your reflection inside the TRIPP Mobile app.

Each share uses a unique code, so the reflection stays private to the person you send it to. Sharing is always intentional. Nothing is posted publicly or sent automatically.

Privacy You Can Trust

  • Voice input is not stored. Kōkua's reflections are generated in real time, and your voice data is not retained.

  • No data sales. TRIPP will never sell your personal information.

  • You're in control. You can request to delete your information from TRIPP at any time by emailing support@tripp.com.
